During 3000 years, the image of the swastika was used by many cultures around the world, including in China, Japan, India, and southern Europe. By the Middle Ages, the swastika was a well known, if not commonly used, symbol but was called by many different names:

Some sources indicate that the Chinese Empress Wu of the Tang Dynasty decreed that the swastika would be used as an alternative symbol of the sun.

In Japan, the swastika is called manji. Since the Middle Ages, it has been used as a family coat of arms. On Japanese maps, a swastika (left-facing and horizontal) is used to mark the location of a Buddhist temple. The right-facing manji is often referred as the gyaku manji (, lit. "reverse manji"), and can also be called kagi jūji, literally "hook cross".

Thank you for giving your references in detail. This is very good.

However, you have not written very much on your own. You have mentioned that it has been considered a positive sign for most of its history, however you have not spoken about its negative connotations in western society. BECAUSE of the misuse by the Nazis, and their association with genocide, the symbol is completely forbidden to be used in the west. In fact, in Germany it is against the law.

You do not touch on this at all in your blog.

So overall this blog is only the bare minimum of the assignment.
